Prescott parade emotional for town

PRESCOTT, AZ - On Saturday, residents in Prescott lined the streets of downtown to take part in the annual rodeo parade.

But the event has new meaning following the tragic loss of the 19 Granite Mountain Hotshots.

It was an emotional day as onlookers paid tribute to the brave men and their families.

The world?s oldest rodeo is 126 years old. This year it was a little different.

A tribute at the beginning of the parade honored the 19 fallen firefighters who died fighting the Yarnell Hill Fire southwest of Prescott.

Aboard a hotshot fire truck were the family members of those heroes who sacrificed their lives.

?Just seeing all the names of everybody that passed away, it?s just really hard,? Michelle Groves said.

It was not only an emotional day but one that left many people speechless.

It was a devastating loss for this tight-knit community and a reminder that life is often cut way too short.
