England call-ups for Lakes College students

Two Lakes College rugby league players have been selected to represent their country against their Scottish counterparts.

Lowca full-back Scott Rooke and Seaton forward Liam Wood played key roles this year in helping the college, at Lillyhall, win North West Division Two, gain promotion and reach the quarter-final of the National Cup.

And the pair went on to star for Cumbria Colleges in a national selection festival, to earn England College call-ups for two clashes with the Scots.

Lakes College head coach Matt Johnson said: ?This is a great achievement for Liam and Scott, who have been excellent in Lakes College?s success this season. ?This is the second year in a row we have had students represent England so hopefully we keep progressing the students and put Cumbria student RL on the map.?

Lakes College will step up in to the premier college RL division next year.
