News of Rohingya Muslims being slaughtered in Myanmar prompted human rights groups around the world into action. Among them was the London-based Pakistan Press Club UK, where club official Ansar Burney vowed an investigation of Muslim persecution in Myanmar ? only to be turned down by the Myanmar Embassy in London for a VISA entry.
According to Mizzima News, a media agency specializing in Burma related news and multimedia, a total of 58 coalition civil society groups (led by Refugees International, the Arakan Project and the Equal Rights Trust) have reported a Muslim massacre in the western Arakan State of Myanmar. Together, the coalition groups have verified reports of senseless murders and the rape of Muslims girls. The resulting terror has prompted many into choosing self-imposed house arrest, and without work, most find it difficult to meet even their most basic needs.
In an official statement, the coalition said that ?what started as inter-communal violence has evolved into a large scale state-sponsored violence against the Rohingya.? Myanmar is not allowing any journalists or human rights activists to enter the country and for Burney, this proves that Myanmar has something to hide.
